November Blog Chain, NaNoWriMo tribute.

Once again it is time for the AbsoluteWrite Blog Chain. As this month is NaNoWriMo, we have decided to craft short scenes of exactly 100 words in tribute.

I have been having fun lately crafting stories for publication on Twitter, so this appealed to me. Yes, Twitter. A complete story in 140 characters or less. It’s easier than you think. Here are two famous examples:

For sale: One pair baby shoes. Never worn.  -Hemingway

The last man on earth sat in a room. There was a knock at the door.

Inspired by one of my attempts, here is my 100 word story:

“You just might be the only honest lawyer on the planet. Better be careful, or you’ll give the rest a good name.” Sebastian joked. I laughed along with him and tossed him a beer. There was a knock at the door, and I got up to answer it.

I opened the door, to find a red-skinned, grinning daemon with a briefcase.

“Y-You’re a daemon!” I said.

“Yes, I am.” It handed me an envelope. “I work for Abbadon, Ba’aal and Lucifer, and you’ve just been served. You have 30 days to appear in Hell to plead your case.”

Please check out the other participants, and feel free to comment. And I suggest, that in the spirit of this excursive, keep your comments under 140 characters.

Good hook for a longer tale, not quite a story in its own though. I think it needs some feeling of conclusion… little too open ended

Ruh-roh…arguing with a daemon lawyer on his home turf never ends well. LOL

I like that the preliminary bureaucracy is still much the same.

*laughs* I agree with Claire but what would really bother me the most is getting to Hell…

Getting to Hell is the easy part. Finding a sympathetic jury? Not so easy.

Or a jury of his peers?

Doesn’t a daemon or demon lawyer seem redundant?

It reminds me of the joke about God threatening to sue Satan for a sole and Satan says, “Just where will YOU find a lawyer?”

Lol. Pencil pushers and bureaucrats. Love it. There will probably be a loop hole to get out of it ;o)

“You have 30 days to appear in Hell to plead your case.”
That is just too damn funny. Well crafted and very humorous post here, CScottMorris.

Funny! A few rough edges (“your” for “you’re”), and I’m curious what made you choose the “daemon” spelling–since daemons in Greek mythology were actually benevolent as opposed to the hellfire-and-brimstone demons.

Noted, and edited. Thank you.
I honestly had no idea Daemons were benevolent greek spirits. There are several ways to spell Fairy/Faerie, and I simply assumed there were several ways to spell Demon. I went with what felt like the Old World way of spelling it.
